Costco sells this 40 pound container of 3″ chlorine tablets for $189.99. Scroll down for photos. If you take a look at my post from last year (click link), you can see the price of these has more than doubled! They were originally selling for $87.99 & now they are over $100 more at $189.99. There was a time where you couldn’t even find these at Costco & people were scrambling to find them anywhere. Between the pandemic, increase in pool construction & fires at the manufacturing facilities, these 3″ chlorinating tabs became a hot commodity. It’s no different than a lot of items that increased in price during the pandemic. Costco Clorox Pool & Spa Xtra Blue 3″ Chlorinating Tabs
This is the same stuff that Costco has carried in the past. I was surprised to see it because I had been receiving so many emails asking about when it will be in stock. Well it’s back in stock & the limit is 2. If you have multiple Costco memberships, you can always pick up 2 per membership. I found this in the center aisle next to all the other outdoor and water sports. Hopefully as the supply chains ease up a little bit, we will see a price decrease on products like this. RE: Excessive Cost For Chlorine Tablets
Subject: Fire At Chlorine Facility Does Not Justify Excessive Increase From $90 to $189.00 Within A Year And Is Unacceptable ! This is a form of price gouging and price fixation as if a “fair trade” item when it should be competitive. Need more pool equipment, chemical test kits, hoses, etc. at Costco to sell to customers and and experienced Water Treatment Professional like me to represent Costco for pool and spa operation and maintenance services at a discount to Costco members to get a discount on Chlorine 3 inch tablets, nets, brushes, telescoping poles, lights, heaters, circulation pumps and motors, spa blower motors, etc.
Ya, unfortunately it’s been tough for the Chlorine Tablets. I’d be great to have the prices come down back to earth, but that’s just not the case right now. They have eased up a little bit though. I’ve only ever seen the Chlorine & HTH Shock at Costco. I have not seen any other pool cleaning products.
