Costco Barcalounger Recliner w/ Power Headrest

Costco sells this Barcalounger with a power headrest for $399.99. Scroll down for photos. Costco only sells a handful of “Barcalounger” branded items. I’ve seen a few chairs and ottomans, but this was the first time I’ve seen the power recliner. I’d love to tell you how comfortable it was, but I was not allowed to sit in it. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all Costco furniture is off limits. You can see from the photos how plush it looks, so I’m sure I wouldn’t be disappointed. If our living room wasn’t so small, this Barcalounger would be at the top of my list. Before moving in with my wife, I spent many hours falling asleep in a La-Z-Boy recliner. Maybe if I clear out my garage, I can put one in there =). Here are a few more details about this Costco Barcalounger recliner……..

  • Power Headrest
  • Pocket Coil Seat Cushion
  • Sinuous Spring Suspension
  • Leggett & Platt reclining mechanism
  • Dimensions: 37.9″L x 40.9″W x 40.4″H
  • 1 Box

Barcalounger Fabric Power Recliner w/ Power Headrest

Costco had a full stack of these when I saw them. I was a big fan of the color too. It seems to be a lighter gray that would go with most living rooms. I also really liked the white stitching that you can see in the photos. I’m really bummed I didn’t get to try out the power headrest. I wanted to give it a shot since I am a taller guy. They currently stopped selling this online, so it is in store only. These furniture items tend to disappear & not return, so if you’re interested, you should consider getting it now. If you’d like to check out some other HIGHLY RATED power recliners, make sure to check these out……

  1. I bought my chair at Costco six months ago. The problem is after sitting in the chair for awhile I become fully charged like a condenser with static electricity! When I touch anything after getting up I get a very painful shock usually a light switch. I’m thinking of returning it to Costco unless you know how to correct this painful safety issue.

    1. I had an experience like this this winter. We purchased our chairs last July and stored them until we left for our winter months in California. I was always complaining that the static electricity was over the top. Maybe it’s the chair.

  2. We are looking at ordering two Barcalounger Leather Recliners with Power Headrests going on sale in a few days. While checking reviews, one of them stated these chairs are NOT made by Barcalounger but a company called True Innovations. Therefore Barcalounger would not honor the warranty when he had trouble. Are you aware of this or experience dealing with Barcalounger regarding warranties on the chairs sold at COSTCO?

  3. Our barcolounger with power head rest and usb port worked for about 1 hour and now only the headrest works. The other switch doesn’t work. We checked all the connections and turned it over to check for a problem, but didn’t find any issues. Very disappointed. We bought two but haven’t taken the other one out of the box. What now!!

    1. Sorry to hear Katie. That seems very odd it would work for such a short time. Have you tried moving around the wires to see if there is a loose wire anywhere. The biggest complaint about these baracaloungers always seems to be with the power cord.

    2. I wish I had read your comment. I just brought one home. I didn’t know it was electric or I wouldn’t have bought it. The one I sat in in the store was comfortable but was up against something. We did not recline it. The chair was great to sit in and my feet touched the floor. The one we just brought home is the most uncomfortable chair I have ever sat in. My feet are about two inches off the floor. It’s like sitting on an overstuffed pillow that doesn’t have any give. I’m so disappointed.

      1. Sorry to hear Debbie. You an always return it. It will be a pain to return but it’s better than not being comfortable in a recliner for years

  4. Did you find the power cord? We have the cord but it seems that something is missing on the end because it doesn’t fit in the back of the chair.

    1. I’m not 100% sure, but based on size it’s going to be around 44″ height / width / depth. I’ll try to double check the next time I go to Costco

    1. Yes. I’m not 100% sure about this specific model, but if you take a look at the box, it looks like the back of the chair MUST be removable in order for it to fit so I would say yes

  5. My Costco has two different ones of these chairs… one is $499.99 the other is $389.99, but I have no idea what the difference is between them. According to the sign and text on the boxes there’s no obvious difference. Any chance you know what the difference is between them? For $110 bucks it should be a substantial difference.

    1. Does one have the “power” option for the headrest. It could be that one is built bigger / better, but I wouldn’t be able to tell without photos. Did you have the model numbers so I could try to get to the bottom of this? Costco does tend to carry several models of these Barcalounger recliners

  6. I bought 2 BarcaLoungers recliners in June and we totally loved them for 4 months. Now we are facing some problems. One has a back frame that broke on on side and the other has an uncomfortable seat. We are so disappointed. I googled how to repair our problems, but we are in out late 70s and unable. I am frustrated.

    1. Hi Sandra. Sorry to hear about your bad experience. If it’s only been 4 months I would just return them to Costco. That does not seem like it would be worth the effort to repair them yourself. It’s unfortunate because they are a pain to get to the store, but they should accept them back without issue

    1. Costco.com currently has the “Barcalounger Fabric Power Glider Recliner with Power Headrest”, which is a very similar product for $499.99. It is “out of stock” right now but keep monitoring it daily to see if it comes back in stock. Your best bet is to check your local Costco. You can always ask them to look up the Item Number & see if any Costco’s around you have any in stock. Good luck

    1. No, it does not go to the flat position, but it get’s you close to. It does have a power headrest, so that is adjustable. It depends on if you are looking for the up / down or the extend / retract. These are hard to find right now, so if you see one I would grab it! Thanks

  7. I need the power cord replaced I was given this as a gift but the power cord was missing does anyone know what kind of cord it has? This recliner is super comfy and I can’t use any of the feature 🙁

    1. I don’t know the exact model for the cord. If someone could send me an email or post the information that would be great. [email protected]. What you could do is look underneath the chair & see what the electrical specifications are (send me a photo if you don’t mind). The company Jameco.com is awesome at having power supplies or wall adapters for all sorts of different electronics. You would need to provide them with some information, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they have an adapter that works for you. Let me know how it works out

    2. We today bought 2 of this recliner
      From Costco. I will be glad to send you a pic of specifications on power cord if you send me your phone or email.
      My phone is +14077607432.

      1. I’m glad you were able to find them Charlene! Please come back and let me know how you like them! Thanks for the information on the power cord. If you could send it to my email ([email protected]) that would be great! I’ll make sure to add it to the post because a few people have asked about it. Thanks for your help!

        1. Hello, Did you ever find a good place to purchase a replacement power cord for this chair? I received this chair as a gift and the cord was not included so I need to buy a power cord. Any help would be appreciated.

          Thank you so much!

          1. I never got an email of the power cord so I’m not 100% sure. Does your chair have the power specifications next to the inlet. A photo of that might help with finding the proper power cord.

          1. Did you lose the power cord or is it damaged? If you still have it you can look at the technical specifications and buy and adapter with the same voltage / amperage. There are websites that still sell them. If you can’t find it or don’t know the model number, your best bet might be to contact Barcalounger. You can fill out a request & email them. They ask for………
            1) Copy of original sales slip;
            2) Photo of the manufacturing tag under the footrest/ottoman of the product;
            3) Photos of the product: head on, from the left, from the right and from the outside back;
            4) If necessary, up close photos of the problem area(s) that helps to explain the issue(s) the consumer is having with the product;
            5) A description of the problem;
            6) Name, address, phone number, email address;
            EMAIL the above information to: [email protected]

          2. I have this chair and we moved it. When we went to plug it back in we can’t figure out how. It seems like I’m missing a piece for it because it doesn’t seem to fit in the back of the chair but I don’t know how’d we’d be missing a piece. Anyone know how to plus it in?

  8. Since you own it, can you please please tell me how long it is when fully extended??? We actually bought one, loved everything about it, except it is not a “wall hugger” and had to sit way out about 20 inches into the SMALL room we bought it for. Therefore we returned it 🙁 and since bought a loveseat that IS a wall hugger . . . unfortunately my husband isn’t as happy with the comfort of this one, and he claims it is shorter than the Barcalounger, but I don’t think so! Your measurement would perhaps ease my conscience and help him to be more satisfied with the choice I felt we had to make! Thanks!

    1. I don’t own this specific Barcalounger, so I can’t tell you the exact length. You’re best bet is to see if they are available in store & bring a tape measure. You can always buy it & return it if it doesn’t fit, but I’m sure you don’t want to go through the hassle of returning. Hopefully you get it all straightened out Cheryl. Let me know how it works out

    1. Good to know Wanda! Only 4! They probably sold out in a day or 2. It always seems to happen with specific furniture. I haven’t seen them in my stores since I posted about them. Glad you got your hands on one

    1. I went to Costco today & didn’t see these on the floor. I’ll be heading to a different Costco on Friday & I’ll make sure to look. Unfortunately they are not sold online.

  9. I bought this chair yesterday at our local Costco in California, and I had just enough clearance in my Jeep Grand Cherokee to fit the box. My first impression after one day is that this is a very comfortable chair that provides superior back and neck support while sitting in it.

    1. Glad to hear. Like I said, I really wanted to try it out, but with COVID, there was no sitting on the furniture. Glad you find it comfortable & hopefully it’s built to last. Keep us updated on the chair

  10. I confirmed that the Arlington, VA also has this in the store. We tried sitting it before the pandemic and the headrest has a lot of positions to allow a comfortable experience. My wife is 5 foot tall and it fit her well, I’m 6 foot and it was okay as well (but it is really for her so I’m okay with that).Has anyone bought this and if so can the provide some feedback? Since it is only in-store I cannot find any reviews from the Costco website. The trick is how to get it home as the box is a little awkward and hard to fit in a sedan size vehicle and there are no delivery options.

    1. I was unable to sit in it because they still won’t let us try out the furniture in California. It looks comfortable, but that’s all I got. Maybe you have a friend with a truck that can help you deliver it. It looks a little too cumbersome for a sedan.

    1. I saw this in store at the Costco in Foster City. Unfortunately they don’t sell it online right now. Once these items sell out, they tend to be out for good. That’s what’s tough about furniture at Costco. I’ll let you know if I see it at Costco next time I go. They may still be in stock in the store. Hope that helps
