Shrimp Cocktail with Cocktail Sauce & Lemons

We only buy this a couple of times a year & when we do it’s for a gathering. It’s probably a good thing because I would have the tendency to sit down & eat the entire container at once. It’s probably not recommended to eat 1.5 pounds of shrimp in 1 setting =). There are about 100 calories for every 3 – 4 ounces of shrimp, so keep that in mind with this 24 ounce (1.5 pound) package. If you do buy this product frequently, make sure to check out some of the shrimp platters that allow you to keep the shrimp on ice. There are some HIGHLY RATED serving platters on Amazon, that would go great while hosting. You can check out the links here……

  1. Farm raised shrimp from where?????
Health wise, shouldn’t you disclose where it’s a product of? What country? I want to know.

  2. I’m so confused by the packaging. Y’all are saying they’re fully cooked right? Because the packaging says that we’re supposed to cook it so I’m not really sure

    1. If you look at the ingredients photo, the first ingredient says “cooked shrimp”. These are cooked and ready to eat. You may be getting confused at the “safe handling” instructions, which is just general safe handling practices for meat. Hope that helps.

  3. I really love there sauce to, and they wont sell you another cup. The one cocktail sauce only covers about half of the shrimp they give you. they need to have 2 sauce cups in the container, Im willing to pay the extra

    1. You and everyone else =). That is the biggest complaint with this item. Every one wants more sauce. If I ever find out the recipe / brand, I’ll be sure to post it

  4. I would also like to know the brand of Costo’s cocktail sauce. It is better than any store bought or hand made sauce. Please share if you know.

    1. I tried asking the food workers at Costco to no avail. I will try again with different people each time I see someone new. If I get anywhere, I’ll be sure to post.

    2. We’ve made our own cocktail sauce by mixing Heinz Chili sauce with jarred horseradish. Very close to the Costco cups.

  5. We have the same problem as M Nell. The cocktail sauce has to be rationed in order to make it come out even with the shrimp. My daughter said that she saw a post from Costco that they can’t give out the name of the sauce as it’s proprietary. So whoever makes/supplies it should consider bottling it so it can be sold at Costco.

    1. Thanks for the heads up Jen. I’m sure with all the Costco Fans out there we could figure out who the supplier is. I’ll do some digging next time I got to Costco. Maybe we can get an insider to give us a hint. It is tasty, but the nice thing is it’s not to hard to make your own. We could also put a request in to add more sauce to the shrimp. I’m sure people would be happy to pay a few more cents for some sauce!

  6. Does anyone know if the Cocktail sauce that comes with the shrimp is made in house? If not do you know what brand the cocktail sauce is? The shrimp goes farther than the sauce & I would like to buy extra if possible.

    1. That’s a good question. I’m not sure if they make it in house or just buy it. You could always whip up some sauce yourself & combine it with the Costco stuff. A quick Google search will give you plenty of EASY recipes. A little ketchup, lemon, Worcestershire with some horseradish, garlic or hot sauce to your liking. I’ll try asking the workers next time

  7. I got one of these that was 1.43 pounds on Tuesday. The next day I opened it, figuring I’d feel very satisfied spreading it out over 2 days. However, it was not to be. I just love them and ate the whole thing for my meal. And it’s one of the better store bought cocktail sauces I’ve ever had. Bear in mind that the weight is probably calculated to include the weight of the lemon wedges and the container of cocktail sauce.

    1. That’s pretty funny Bill! I do that all the time with Costco items. You could be eating something a lot worse like chips, candy etc. So shrimp isn’t so bad if you’re going to eat a lot. Glad you enjoyed them. The cocktail sauce is good…..I agree. You’re probably right about the weight of the lemon & cocktail, but that’s ok. It’s still a good deal! Thanks for the comment
