Costco Pit Boss Sportsman Pellet Grill Series 820SP

Costco sells this Pit Boss Pellet Grill for $479.99. Scroll down for photos. This pellet grill is supposed to rival the Traeger brand grills. Based on the reviews, it sounds like it’s a great alternative to the Treager. Costco sells the Traeger Mesa 22 Pellet Grill for $489.99, but it only has 418 square inches of grilling space. This Pit Boss costs $10 less & it has more than double the cooking space @ 849 square inches. That would make me look twice at this product before purchasing a Traeger. I’ve used a Traeger for years & I really enjoy them. I’ve never used a Pit Boss, but if I was in the market for a smoker I would seriously consider this one. Costco Pit Boss Sportsman Pellet Grill

Costco does not sells this online currently. I’ve seen it at my local Costco for months now. I tried to sift through some of the reviews & I couldn’t find that many negative ones. The Pit Boss website has all good reviews, so take that with a grain of salt. The biggest negatives I found were that the item came dented/missing parts & fluctuation in temperature. I know after using a Traeger that they fluctuate temperature when the hopper loads in more pellets, so this isn’t a big deal. Also if you let soot buildup with proper maintenance you don’t get a clean burn, so this can be attributed to user error.
