Costco Propane Tank, 20 lb Tank w/ OPD Valve & Gauge

Costco sells empty 20 lb propane tanks for $29.99. Scroll down for photos. For those of you who have propane BBQ’s, you’re probably very familiar with these. I have a propane BBQ & I have 2 tanks at all times. I like having an extra one in case I run out & also in case of an emergency. Even if you don’t have a propane BBQ, these are great to have in case of an emergency. You can buy an outdoor gas range to go with the tank & have a portable stove for under $100. With all the natural disasters happening these last few years, this is a really inexpensive way to prepare for a disaster. 20 pounds of propane lasts a long time on my smaller 3 burner grill too. Here are a few more details about this Costco Propane Tank…….

  • Brand: Flame King
  • OPD Valve & Gauge Included
  • Powder Coated Finish
  • DOT Certified
  • Overfill Protection
  • Tanks are Pre Purged

Costco Propane Tank, 20 lb w/ Pressure Gauge

Most big box stores sell these propane tanks for around $30. The deal you are getting here is that this tank comes included with the pressure gauge. A pressure gauge is really nice to have on a propane tank so you have an idea of when you need to get a refill. Last thing you want is to run out of propane during a big BBQ & have to run to the refill station. I also can’t stress enough the importance of having propane for an emergency. If the gas/electricity gets cut off, this is a very simple way to cook food. Take a look at the link below (GasOne B-5300) & you will see what I mean. It’s also a great way to cook crab so the house doesn’t smell. Here are a few HIGHLY RECOMMENDED items to go with the propane tanks…….

Price: $29.99, Item Number: 261685

    1. You would have to check at your local store. I am located in the Northern California Bay Area & they have these tanks in stock. They do not come with the gauge though, just the tank

    1. These are usually found in-store. I have seen them on the shelves in the last few weeks, so make sure to keep checking your local Costco.

    1. I’ve seen a few different models, but the gauge should be built in. It comes empty so it should read “zero”. Once you get it filled the gauge should register. There were a few complaints on Costco.com stating the gauge didn’t work, so it is possible that maybe it’s broken. Let me know if you find the solution

  1. I just bought two of these tanks at my local Costco in Prescott Arizona. As of 11/18/2021 they are $39.99 each. I took them outside where Costco filled them both for a total of $17.95. In my opinion, this is a far better option than those exchange tanks which are only 15 pounds instead of 20.

    1. Nice. Glad to hear you got your hands on a couple of these propane tanks. They are a great deal! Lucky for you, your Costco fills propane tanks. My Costco’s do not have that service, but fortunately I have a speedy gas station nearby that re-fills. I’m with you. I like filling the tanks all the way as opposed to the exchange tanks which are less than full. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. I just checked Costco.com & they don’t have the 20 Pound tank available. They have the 30 pound tank for $59.99 (shipping & handling included). I’ve seen these in stock for weeks now, so check with your local Costco to see if they have them. They can also check your other Costco’s as well. Let me know if you end up finding one
